Xelagot terrain tools

Upload

The X1 xelagot has a  Terrain Manager in its Uni menu, which only works in 3.3 and higher worlds. The third feature of this manager allows you to upload and restore the world's terrain from file. This feature requires the bot to be caretaker.

To upload a 3.3 or higher world terrain, the bot must be in the world, and you must have a valid terrain backup file. Open the  Terrain Manager to load the manager and look for the Upload Terrain section.

A normal terrain restoration, as done by the ActiveWorlds administration tool, goes in two steps: terrain deletion and uploading the new terrain from a valid backup file: an elevdump file. To achieve the same with the bot, checkmark the delete terrain before uploading box, and clear the checkmark from all other boxes. Then click on the title Upload Terrain and follow the instructions online.

But X1 can more than just restore terrain. It can modify the terrain, moving it up or down, scale the heights and set maximum and minimum heights. It can also add empty pages: this feature corrects a problem with pages which have not been edited or after a terrain deletion, because the world database does not contain data for those pages, and even the central page may be missing, although in the browser it will appear as a flat terrain. Adding a page or pages in these cases allows you to modify the overal height of the terrain. To enable a feature, checkmark it and adjust the values (if any). The ADD EMPTY page feature, if enabled, will add empty pages up to at least the coordinates given or, if 0 coordinate value is entered, up to at least the size of the world. All these values must be set before clicking Upload Terrain.

To edit part of a terrain, X1 won't do, you need other tools: Andras has a special tool for texturing and uploading terrains made with other applications, such as PaitShop Pro, Leveller, Terragen, usgs maps, etc. It is called Dem2RWX, follow the link on Andras' page called Modular Ground Generating.
